After getting a degree in social sciences in the Netherlands, Pieter’s meeting with Sri Harish Johari, an honored teacher for all three authors, led to a major career change. Johari, a master artist as well as jnana yogi, made Pieter his primary art student and taught him a unique wash technique that he had developed. Thereafter Pieter spent part of every year studying in India, learning and honing his art. He developed new and innovative approaches that even Harish had never attempted. Now he travels and presents workshops in Europe and the U.S. each year when he is not busy painting in the Netherlands or India. He did all the illustrations for Awakening the Chakras and contributed to the writing. His art can also be viewed Pieter Weltevrede Paintings at the Sanatan Society Art Galleries (physically located in Belgium). Only part of Pieter Weltevrede’s wealth of remarkable paintings in the Indian classical tradition is posted on the Sanatan Society website. On his annual trips to Europe and America he shows a portfolio of his latest work and offers a selection of his recent paintings for sale.
